I decided to look at google maps and look for interesting routes or trails I could go exploring to, with my bike. I noticed this park, Barnet Marine Park. It is located just North of Burnaby. Being a sunny day, it was good for exploring. Here is the route: http://goo.gl/maps/SGbIm
Below is the Adanac bike trail. It has a lot of up and down hills. For those who commute on it daily, it is a casual trip. However, it does help to have good inflated tires and working brakes. And biking under the sun feels amazing.
There are various trails to get to Barnet Marine Park. Eventually the trails become steep, but it is all downhill. You would eventually have to bike on Barnet Highway. It was daunting at first, but the highway has its own bike trail. As long as we kept to our side, it was a really enjoyable ride. My first Highway experience!
You know you have reached the park when you arrive at the first traffic signal on the highway. Coming from the West, to your right you see the big sign saying Barnet Marine Park. It is not hard to miss in gorgeous daylight.
Below are the railway tracks just before entering the park. The park is pretty small, but is great for enjoying the water, fresh air and less people.

There are some really short walking trails in the park. It has washrooms and changing rooms. You could even go kayaking if you own a kayak. There was also water fountains, however it wasn't running. Probably because it was not quite summer.
Going back, we went back on the Barnet Highway. There are bus stops on the highway and the bus takes you to Port Moody Skytrain. However, we decided to continue riding along and to take another bus at the end of the Highway. The #97 took us to Lougheed Skytrain Station. Some people would rather bike. However we didnt do as much research on the bike trails and would be facing some serious hill climbing.
